Legends: Fantasy Art Show at Meltdown Comics
My wife and I were finally in an art show together for the first time at Meltdown Comics in Hollywood on 4-5-2013.
It was called Legends : Fantasy Art Show
The curator of the show Satine Phoenix, called for artwork that has the fantasy theme so we each made one painting especially for the show. I submitted a piece called “Dragon Rider”, which was 18.25″ x 11″, digital and oil on canvas, framed, asking $300.
“Dragon Rider” artwork is copyrighted by Nguyen Dong
and Leen submitted “Ponyo, the Fish Girl”, 9″x12″ digital painting, printed on Epson Premium Luster Photo Paper, framed, asking $170. If anyone is interested in purchasing these, please contact us.
Here are some photos we took on the show’s opening night.
There was this funny graffiti by the front door.
Eileen’s Ponyo inspired mermaid piece. Thanks to Kristina Bustamante for coming out to dinner and to the show with us that night.
My dragon rider piece.
There were some well known artists there including David Mack (artist and writer of Daredevil Comics). He had a few of these kinds of ink drawings.
Allan Amato was also amongst them. He had a few of these giclee prints.
A game of thrones inspired piece.
Thanks to Satine Phoenix for curating and making the show happen at Meltdown Comics shop. There was a DJ playing music, drinks, and snacks. There were also acrobatic performers, dancers, cosplayers (some from Jareth’s Labyrinth Masquerade), and choreographed sword fights! It was a very exciting opening night. We had fun looking around the comic shop also. The gallery was packed full of people. Everyone AND Optimus Prime was there.
I believe our art will be at the gallery for a couple of weeks. If you’re in the area and curious, stop by and take a peek. The shop is on 7522 Sunset Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90046.
